living room makeover

living_room_before

Let’s take a look at this living room that has recently suffered a makeover and now has a brighter look. The room was redesigned by Alison Royer that basically changed just about anything but still managed to come up with a similar design with obvious improvements. The biggest change was the color change. The dark ceilings have been turned into bright elements that help form a fresh new look. And in order to create continuity and uniformity, the same color from the ceiling beams has also been used for the window frames and has also been replicated in some decorative items like the pillows and the furniture. The new living room is a combination of traditional and modern elements that peacefully coexist. The new colors used are part of a neutral palette. The walls have been painted white while the furniture features tones of brown, beige and combinations of these two. You can sue this as inspiration. (more…)

This is Emily’s living room. Before she decided to give it a makeover it was a disaster. In fact, any change would have been an improvement at that point. here were some elements that Emily managed to preserve and to turn into eye-catching pieces, such as that beautiful fireplace. The walls of the living room have been painted yellow, a sunny and happy color. The fireplace has been painted white, not a common choice but it works out nicely in this case. The doors and doorframes were also painted white and that ugly carpet has been removed. Now the floor features a beautiful brown finish and it really helps with the décor. The carpet has been hiding this beautiful floor for years but it has also been protecting it so it wasn’t totally useless. Most of the furniture has been replaced and so were the decorations and the chandelier. Now Emily’s room is stylish, elegant and ready to receive guests. This was a very successful makeover. you can see that even the subtle changes help the home feel more lovely and livable. (more…)

Beautiful Apartment in Queensland

1 Kind Design

. Before becoming the stylish space that you see in the pictures, this structure used to be a wool store located in Teneriffe, Queensland. The architects and the owner saw the potential and decided to transform it into a lovely home. As a result, the new building is still the same but the interior structure and the design are definitely very different than what it used to be there. Now it’s more like a subtle combination between historic and industrial elements with contemporary elements. There’s also a very beautiful dialogue between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The home occupies a total of 1,733 square feet (178 square meters) and it incorporates a lot of original and unique elements, such as that 14 meter wall with three openings and the stylish décor. The outdoor area is very beautiful and features timber structures and beautiful, oversized plants that make the inhabitants feel fresh and relaxed in no time. It also includes built-in benches and a daybed. This is a home that offers both comfort and privacy without sacrificing style. It also manages to create a connection between the old and new, the historic brick walls, the 100 year old polished concrete floors and the sophisticated modern additions. (more…)
