Showcased for the first time earlier this year at Cersaie, the international exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings held in Bologna, Italy, the Wanders Collection is designed by none other than Marcel Wanders.

Ron Arad Architects have perfectly completed the 2 years redesign project (2004-2006) for a luxury hotel named The Duomo Hotel, situated in the Emilia-Romagna area in the historic centre of Rimini, Italy. A city famous for its cultural, gastronomical and amazing night life, that’s why the clients Pierpaolo Bernardi want to address the changing demand in the area and attract a younger clientele. Designer’s Ron Arad Associates have integrated the original façade into the interior by wrapping it all in new “skin” which successful means its way into the building and forms the back wall of the bar. The bar itself is a large island construction with fjord-like recesses for dining; the material used is polished stainless steel, creating distorted reflections which highlight the activity in the bar. The entrance to the hotel is through giant pin-ball-flipper-like doors framing the view to the reception desk which becomes the focal point of the hotel. Shelves are imbedded into the ring expressing the horizontal topography of the desk. The 43 bedrooms and suites of this Hotel are uniquely designed with individually formed bathroom “pods” forming the backdrop to the sleeping area. Each pod is a wet room with a teak slatted timber floor and has a large circular glazed window which lets natural light into the space, the exterior of which forms the bed head. Through a careful choice of materials and attention to detail, from the door handles to custom designed furniture, the hotel accomodation was combines an unconventional and exciting design.

Warm and Cozy Christmas Fireplaces Mantel

For many of us, Christmas is just not Christmas without a crackling fire, a tree adorned with colorful lights and a couple of sizable stockings hanging from the mantel. Atop this mantel are the knickknacks of the season and an opportunity to display figurines that are destined to be handed down from generation to generation. Photo by D.J. Lein.
Dramatic Christmas Fireplaces Mantel decor

An expansive snake of garland, festooned with ribbons and Christmas tree ornaments makes a bold and buoyant statement in an already striking setting. But it’s the colors, which don’t deviate from the room’s everyday palate, that makes this dramatic holiday decor click. Photo by Barry Wallis.
