The Sieben Residence in Roosendaal Netherlands was completed by Oomen Architects. The house with carport, garage and garden shed is designed as a whole. The idea is based on the concept, a continuous mass which incisions are made. From this concept is inappropriate to make roof overhangs. Daylight admission is central to the whole design. What are transitions between inside and outside the windows deep back in the facade, so the light accompanies the transition. At the front spot from the living room is done deliberately to direct confrontation with the landscape to strengthen. The house seeks a synthesis between interior and exterior after, above that standard, so a direct relationship with the panoramic view created. The levels vary in the house provide a subtle play around the central staircase with relatively minor level differences. The master bedroom is adjacent to a reduction in the outdoor terrace so that the split level is made visible. For more Information and inspiration please take a look for this Sieben Residence interior design picture below which was taken by photographer Filip Dujardin.

55 Blair Road Terrace House in Singapore

The First floor employs flexible glazed walls that lead directly to the pool. The main section of the house is separated by the out door pool and frangipani garden. When both sides of the glazed partitions are open the first floor becomes one large space. The scheme proves to be an approach that promotes diversity of space. The ground floor is not only a lounge and dinning area it is an ideal place to relax and sit poolside.

Through concerted research, experimentation and a good measure of faith, the house proved a success consuming 65% less electricity than state mandated standards, and 55% less water than homes of comparable size without sacrificing comfort or aesthetics. From an architectural standpoint it was important to dispel the common public misperception that efficiency and conservation has to look “hippie” or alternative.
