Located in 1423 Oriole Dr. Los Angeles, The Montalban House was designed by Ricardo Legorreta-FAIA and was built in 1986. A masterwork of cubistic forms and volumes are framed by head-on city, canyon, and ocean views, Behind electric gates and offers total privacy. The house reflects a spirited interplay of space, color, and light typical of Legorreta’s work. The Sieben Residence in Roosendaal Netherlands was completed by Oomen Architects. The house with carport, garage and garden shed is designed as a whole. The idea is based on the concept, a continuous mass which incisions are made. From this concept is inappropriate to make roof overhangs. Daylight admission is central to the whole design. What are transitions between inside and outside the windows deep back in the facade, so the light accompanies the transition. At the front spot from the living room is done deliberately to direct confrontation with the landscape to strengthen. The house seeks a synthesis between interior and exterior after, above that standard, so a direct relationship with the panoramic view created. The levels vary in the house provide a subtle play around the central staircase with relatively minor level differences. The master bedroom is adjacent to a reduction in the outdoor terrace so that the split level is made visible.
